Where Downtown Meets Over the Rhine

James Marable of Original Thought Required answers 5?

Some of the best T’s.  A MUST on Final Fridays!  Original Thought Required is one of the OTR businesses that help explain why OTR is OTR.

That is James on the right.

1.    What do you do in Over-The-Rhine?

I am the owner of the Original Thought Required streetwear boutique; we specialize in selling limited edtion t-shirts by up and coming designers both locally and nationally (working on internationally lol), as well as sneakers and outerwear sprinkled in here and there.

2.    Why do you decide to set up business/work in OTR?
I decided to open up in OTR because it is a neighborhood of great tradition and beauty that is undergoing a revolution of sorts, in that there is a great focus toward making it a place to live and enjoy all that life has to offer. OTR is home to some of the most creative and influential young adults in Cincinnati and there is no other place that I could see fitting the Original Thought Required aesthetic. Original Thought Required has a very open format and lends itself as a space for people to get together and collaborate, hang out, and/or shop… Its definitely my life’s dream turned reality.

3.    Is there anything that has surprised you about working or having a business in OTR?
When I originally opened up, I wasn’t sure if it was the “safe” choice but I went with my heart on it because I was/am so in love with the area’s potential… after over a full year in business, I haven’t had or witnessed one incident on Main street and everyone in the area has totally embraced us and made us a true part of the neighborhood.
4.    Do you have a favorite place you like to go in OTR?

Mixx and Neons are like my 3rd homes (Original Thought Required is second lol)
5.    If you had a magic wand what would you change in OTR?
75 and sunny everyday :)
